August 20, 2008
Hello everyone, working our way through the summer
(I can't believe it's almost over). We've finally
got the new class schedule done for September &
early October. Check out the
Event Schedule to
see what we've got going on and print one out if you
like.
Another big announcement is that we are starting to
take reservations for our in-house quilting. We've
got our HQ16 set up and ready to go. I hope to have
the details posted on the web site in a few days,
but if you have quilt tops that you need to get
quilted, bring them into the store and we'd be happy
to give you all the information so we can do them
for you.
Don't forget to sign up for our Block of the Month
that is starting in October on the Second Saturday
of the Month. Space is limited.

We're also going to be offering a monthly
demonstration on the Second Monday of the month,
starting in October. Stop by the shop at 11am and
see the demonstration. Then stay at the store and
either work on that project or whatever else you are
working on. This will be done in conjunction with
our regular Monday Open Sewing Time in our Sewing
Lounge. |
July 31, 2008
Hello Out there, We've got lots of exciting things
going on for August 2008. First I'd like to remind
you that we still have our sewing lounge open on
Mondays from 11-4. If you are feeling the heat in
your sewing studio, why not drop by in our climate
controlled sewing lounge and relax and have some
fun. Because of all the things going on, we have cut
back on classes for the month of August. Be on the
lookout, because we're looking at a great September
Class Schedule. I hope to have it posted soon.
We're trying hard to do our part for the
environment. We've installed compact fluorescent
light bulbs in all the fixtures of Quilted Bear Den
and looking to reduce waste as much as possible.
Now, we'd like to cut down on the paper bags we use.
We've decided to do this by offering kits of our
wonderful Blank Textiles Fabric. Carol & I picked
out some wonderful blue fabric (Blue is my favorite
color) and found an easy tote bag pattern based on a
design by Joan Hawley of Lazy Girl Designs. We've
made up kits that includes the fabric, pattern along
with a fabric sheet printed with Quilted Bear Den's
store information to make a pocket. All you need to
do is drop by Quilted Bear Den and purchase the kit
for $9.99, go home (or drop by on a Monday) and
construct your bag with the store information as the
pocket. Then whenever you stop by Quilted Bear Den
and make a purchase and use the tote bag to carry
your purchases, you will get a ticket for a monthly
drawing. Each month we will give away a $25 Gift
Card to one lucky person who has shopped with us and
used their Quilted Bear Den Tote. We hope this
inspires you to come and have some fun at Quilted
Bear Den.

We've just received a few books in from various
publishers. We think they are great.

We've Also received the latest edition of Quilter's
Travel Companion. So, if the price of gas hasn't
scared you away from traveling this summer, pick up
a copy of this book so you will know every place you
need to stop along your way

Also, Hot off the Presses is Mark Lipinski's
Quilter's Home Magazine. Lots of great stuff in
here.

We've just gotten in the latest colors of Rock
Candy. They are really great.

We are going to be
starting a new Block of the Month in October. This
will be a more traditional block of the month. The
starting fee will be $10. Each month you will get
the background fabric for your quilt in either
white-on-white, black, or tan-on-tan. You will be
using your own scraps for the focus fabrics. You can
make these blocks as scrappy as you like or a
coordinated as you like. You will then bring the
completed block back the next month and will get
your next block pattern and background fabric. If
you don't make it to the meeting, you will need to
pay $5 to get the next block. The Block of the month
will again be on the Second Saturday of the month.
This time it will start at 9:30am. For this block of
the month, we will have twelve blocks. Each block is
named after a state in the union. It will be fun to
look at each state as we progress across the
country. Below is a picture of the quilt.

Just arrived today is the new 10th Edition of the
Quilters' Travel Companion.

We're starting something new at Quilted Bear Den.
We've acquired two Bernina Model 230 from S&S
Appliance on 9G in Hyde Park and will be renting
them out for customers. You can rent time at the
store to work on any project you like. The cost will
be $10 for the first hour of each session and then
$5 for each additional hour in that session. You
will need to call us to reserve time on the machine.
If you are taking a class at Quilted Bear Den and
cannot bring your machine or you don't have one, you
can reserve one of the machines when you sign up for
the class at no charge.
Please remember that Quilted Bear Den is open seven
days a week for your shopping convenience. We are open Monday through Saturday
from 10-6 and Sunday from 12-4. It seems that some
people still think we are closed on Tuesdays, but
they are mistaken. Please pass this along to your
friends so that everyone knows our operating hours.
Thank You. |
| May 27, 2008 - Welcome to the
newly updated Quilted Bear Den Website. After a year
and a half, we needed an updated look. You're not
going to find any drastic changes, just little
things here and there. The first thing you will
notice is the main page has changed. I want to make
sure that everyone knows all the latest information
as soon as possible. To do this, I am using the main
page of this website for new information. I've
updated the About Us section and added current
pictures of the store. We have the rest of May and
June class schedule on-line and we are now working
on July. Should have that done soon. We will also
attempt to keep the web store up to date and add
more items there. For all the latest that Carol is
doing, please check out her
Blog. Check back here soon for the latest
additions at Quilted Bear Den. |
